Location: Havering

Hours: 15 hours per week (part-time), term-time only (Monday-Friday availability required)

We are looking for an experienced and supportive tutor (with QTS) to work with a young person who requires additional learning and emotional support. The role is based in Havering and involves creating a positive, responsive learning environment across both home and school settings in the West London area. Planning (alongside school staff) and regular feedback to parents and wider professionals will also form part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sessions either in school or at home, depending on the student's needs
  • Deliver and adapt curriculum content in partnership with teaching staff
  • Build trust and emotional safety by working at the student's pace
  • Use positive, student‑centred approaches to support engagement
  • Support independence while offering guidance when needed
  • Identify potential sensory or emotional challenges and respond appropriately
  • Encourage communication, provide processing time, and offer flexible choices
  • Help promote emotional regulation through a calm, consistent approach
  • Accompany the student to familiar and supportive environments when needed

Essential Qualities

  • Experience supporting autistic children or young people with additional needs
  • Experience with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs is beneficial but not essential
  • Flexibility in how support is delivered
  • Hold QTS
  • Have own transportation to Havering
