Early Years Teacher – Outstanding SEN School – Barking and Dagenham

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Early Years Teacher ideally with SEN experience in either mainstream or an SEN setting to join this amazing School!

You will be joining a driven and successful team at this highly sought after SEN School, recently rated Outstanding.

School Overview

The School caters for students aged 4-11 years with Autism. It is a well‑equipped and resourced School which has been commended for the outstanding learning it provides to students who are on various levels of the spectrum. The School benefits from Sensory Rooms and Therapy Pool as well as vast outdoor space which is excellent for central London. Classes are small with only up to 6 pupils so Teachers are able to deliver specific and tailored learning to students. Children at this School have excellent behaviour and there is a strong link to parents and community which helps to ensure pupils reach their potential.

The most recent Ofsted for this School rated the excellent facilities and \’highly collaborative\’ environment that the staff have created and work in.

The School is based in Barking and Dagenham, just a short walk from a tube station.

Role Overview

As an Early Years Teacher, you would be teaching a group in Reception. All students have Autism and will be following individualised plans to reach their attainment targets. You will deliver a sensory based curriculum and activities with a focus on Speech and Language development, Social Skills and Relationships. You may be using a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems including Makaton Signing, Communication Books and PECS. Experience in working with these communication aids would be advantageous however the school provides an intensive induction programme to all new staff.

The School have successfully supported Teachers transition from a mainstream setting into special needs so anyone with a background in Early Years in Primary School is welcome to apply as well as more SEN experienced practitioners.

The successful Early Years Teacher would need to be available from February, full‑time and for a long term commitment which would go permanent for the right Teacher.
