We are seeking a passionate and resilient Cover Supervisor that can teach Maths & Science at a dynamic secondary alternative provision school in Harrow. This is a full-time, long-term role working with a small class of around 5 students, many of whom present with challenging behaviours and require a supportive, nurturing, and consistent learning environment. You will help students aged 11-16 re-engage with education, develop their confidence, and achieve meaningful outcomes in Maths and Science.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Maths and Science lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and progress.
- Use a range of behaviour management strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support student development.
- Track and assess progress, providing constructive feedback and setting achievable targets.
Requirements
- Tutoring experience.
- Experience teaching Maths and/or Science at secondary level (GCSE).
- Previous experience working with students with challenging behaviours or in an alternative provision, PRU, or SEMH setting.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching.
