A permanent contract position to work as a Chemistry Academic Mentor in a fantastic Grade 1 Ofsted 11 - 18 School in Central London. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience in a secondary setting, which is superb for teacher training applications. All subject areas are considered, and you must have a related undergraduate degree.

The role will involve inspiring, motivating, and increasing attainment and participation in the core subject area of Chemistry. Some typical responsibilities include:

  • Working with school staff to select students for mentoring
  • Discussing the aims of mentoring with pupils
  • Supporting pupils inside and outside of the classroom
  • Agreeing and writing action plans
  • Occasionally making home visits to talk to parents about issues and offer advice
  • Liaising with schools, teachers, social workers, and educational psychologists
  • Aiding pupils with the transition to secondary education
  • Helping pupils to increase their confidence and self-esteem
