Are you a passionate Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a genuine difference? We are recruiting a Band 6 or Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join an Outstanding specialist college in Sutton on a maternity cover contract. This is an opportunity to work with young adults aged 16+ with learning disabilities, autism and complex communication needs, helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for adult life.
The Role
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you'll become part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering person-centred therapy that has a real impact. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing communication and eating & drinking needs.
- Managing your own clinical caseload.
- Delivering universal and individual Speech and Language Therapy interventions.
- Supporting students using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
- Coaching and training teaching and support staff.
- Working collaboratively with families and external professionals to support successful transitions.
- Promoting independence, inclusion and positive outcomes for every learner.
What We're Looking For
To be successful, you'll have:
- A degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration.
- Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Experience supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
- Knowledge of communication assessment, AAC and eating & drinking.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Applications are welcomed from experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists looking to progress, as well as established Band 7 Speech and Language Therapists.
