A caring and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is looking to appoint a committed Learning Support Assistant to join its support team from September 2026. This Learning Support Assistant role will involve working closely with pupils who require additional support to access the curriculum, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. The school has a strong reputation for inclusion and works hard to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
The successful Learning Support Assistant will work alongside class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, speech and language needs and moderate learning difficulties.
The RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
- Deliver targeted literacy, numeracy and communication interventions
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
- Encourage confidence, independence and positive behaviour
- Support teachers in creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment
The school is looking for a Learning Support Assistant who:
- Has experience supporting children in a primary school or SEN setting
- Is patient, proactive and adaptable
- Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Communicates effectively with staff, parents and outside agencies
- Has a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable but not essential.
