Location: Reddish, Stockport

Pay Rate: £13.69 to £15.87 per hour

Shift Patterns: Monday to Friday

We are looking for a teaching assistant to work within a year 3 class to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis. This will be a 1:1 teaching assistant role as the pupil in question has special educational needs that include ASD, emotional needs and some mild behavioural needs. You will get the opportunity to work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team whilst fulfilling this teaching assistant role to ensure correct support plans are in place for the child. You will have SLT members on hand to offer you advice and help you get to know the child's likes and dislikes quickly so you can tailor the support you are providing accordingly, and you feel comfortable and confident in your role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 for the pupil and help them access the curriculum and achieve their goals.
  • Assist in implementing tailored learning and behaviour plans for the pupil with a range of needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Support pupils' emotional and social development, encouraging independence and confidence.
  • Adapt to new settings quickly, bringing energy and a proactive approach to each school you work in.
Qualities in the teaching assistant we are looking for
  • Experience in SEN: Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in autism and other complex needs.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: A positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a variety of school environments.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Confidence in working closely with staff, pupils, and parents to ensure cohesive support.
  • Compassion and Patience: A nurturing approach to working with children who may face additional challenges.
