Pay Rates: £14.25 to £16.65 p.h

Shift Patterns: Monday to Friday

Reeson are working closely with an SEMH school in Stockport who are looking to find an experienced and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time, long-term role to start in September. This role working with children with complex SEMH needs requires a strong SEMH Teaching Assistant with lots of experience. The students display challenging behaviours, so it is important that you are resilient with a patient and calm demeanour. The school are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant who can add value to a successful and driven team and truly make a difference to the lives of the children they work with.

SEMH Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

  • Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities
  • Support the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures
  • Support class teachers with managing behaviour effectively to ensure an engaging and safe learning environment
  • Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment
  • Observe pupil performance and pass observations on to the class teacher and supervise a class if the teacher is temporarily unavailable

SEMH Teaching Assistant Qualifications/experience:

  • Experience: A SEMH Teaching Assistant with a minimum of 6 months' work/volunteer experience with children or young people and working with additional needs.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant/childcare or relevant, valuable experience that can be referenced professionally.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents.
  • Attributes: A passion for supporting children's education, a proactive approach, and a willingness to adapt to different school environments.
  • Safeguarding: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
