Pay: £14.25 - £16.65 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (30-minute lunch)

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Reeson Education is recruiting for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the M9 area from September. This is an exciting long-term opportunity for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils with SEND, neurodivergent needs and SEMH, while helping every child achieve their full potential.

The successful Teaching Assistant will primarily support two pupils moving into Year 2, providing consistent 1:1 and small group support throughout the school day. There will also be the opportunity for the Teaching Assistant to work across Year 1 and Year 4 for two afternoons each week, supporting additional pupils with a range of SEND needs. The school is therefore looking for a flexible and adaptable Teaching Assistant who is confident working across different year groups and key stages.

A transition day before the September start will be required to allow the successful Teaching Assistant to meet the pupils, staff and wider school team, ensuring a smooth and positive start to the new academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Support neurodivergent pupils to access learning and achieve positive outcomes
  • Work flexibly across Year 2, with additional support in Year 1 and Year 4
  • Deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, parents and staff
  • Work closely with the class teachers, SENDCo and wider support team
  • Promote emotional regulation, confidence and independence
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with SEND
  • Relevant qualifications or training relating to education or SEND
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent children and pupils with SEMH needs
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Flexibility to work across different year groups when required
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
