Location: M11, East Manchester

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:00am-3:30pm)

Pay: £14.25 to £16.65 per hour (PAYE or Umbrella)

A large, inclusive primary school in the M11 area of East Manchester is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their well-established SEND provision. This long-term, full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to work with pupils across EYFS to Year 6 who present with a range of complex needs, including emotional dysregulation, non-verbal communication, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, sensory needs, behavioural challenges, learning disabilities and other additional needs.

The school has a specialist internal provision designed to support pupils who require a more bespoke and structured approach. They are searching for a calm, resilient, and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant who can help pupils regulate, engage, and thrive within a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support as a Behaviour Support Assistant
  • Assist pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs and challenging behaviour
  • Support children with communication needs, including non-verbal pupils
  • Work closely with the SEND team to deliver tailored strategies and interventions
  • Maintain a calm, consistent, safe learning environment as a Behaviour Support Assistant
  • Contribute to personalised plans, behaviour reports and daily logs
  • Use de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies confidently
  • Support learning both in the provision and, when needed, in the mainstream classroom
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies in all aspects of the role as a Behaviour Support Assistant

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or SEND
  • Strong behaviour management and resilience
  • Ability to adapt to different needs across EYFS-KS2
  • Confidence supporting emotional and behavioural regulation
  • Commitment to full-time, long-term work, Monday to Friday
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Team Teach or equivalent training is highly advantageous
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils as a Behaviour Support Assistant
