Mental Health Support in School required at a SEMH School in Basildon. This is a full-time and long-term opportunity.
Are you an experienced Mental Health Support Worker, Behaviour TA or SEMH experienced LSA who is looking for a new opportunity? Are you passionate about making a difference in and working with children with emotional needs, mental health and trauma?
The School provides quality education for children with complex backgrounds, mental health issues and sometimes challenging behaviour. Pupils have mental health needs including Anxiety, Depression, Self-harm, Autism, ADHD, ODD and Schizophrenia. They require a strong and resilient support worker who will be patient, caring, understanding, firm and fair.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience of supporting students with SEN, mental health and/or challenging behaviour
- Confident, calm and collected in a school environment
- Knowledgeable of the UK curriculum
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedure
- Reliable & punctual
- Ability to risk assess and follow instructions
- Ability to build rapport with individual pupils
You will be responsible for supporting a small class of around 3-6 students and supporting the teacher in delivering the learning objectives for the lesson. You will use resources to help each student understand and engage in lessons. You will be a pastoral support and emotional guide and positive role model.
