Reeson Education are recruiting a dedicated Health and Well-being Officer to work in a structured school setting in Barnsley (S71). This role is based in the school's medical room and suits someone organised, attentive, and confident handling health, safety, and wellbeing responsibilities with accuracy and care.
About the Health and Well-being Officer Role
As a Health and Well-being Officer, you will oversee the day-to-day first aid provision for students, ensuring medical needs are managed safely, consistently, and in line with school procedures. You will be responsible for medication administration, health records, and supporting pupil wellbeing while maintaining high safeguarding and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities as a Health and Well-being Officer
- Medical Room Management: Oversee the daily operation of the medical room and respond to student health needs.
- First Aid Provision: Deliver first aid support to pupils as required and manage incidents appropriately.
- Medication Administration: Manage the signing-in, storage, and dispensing of medication in line with policy.
- Risk Assessments: Complete and maintain relevant medical and health-related risk assessments.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate medical logs, incident reports, and wellbeing records.
- Staff & Pupil Liaison: Communicate clearly with staff, parents, and external professionals when necessary.
To succeed as a Health and Well-being Officer, you will need:
- Current first aid training (essential).
- Medication dispensing training (highly desirable).
- Experience supporting children or young people in a school, care, or health setting.
- Strong attention to detail and confidence following medical and safeguarding procedures.
- A calm, professional manner when responding to health-related situations.
