Reeson Education is recruiting for two Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school in the WA15 area, supporting primary and secondary‑aged pupils with profound and complex needs. This role is a full‑time, long‑term opportunity in a highly supportive special school environment dedicated to providing exceptional care and education for children with diverse needs. This role is with a view to become a permanent member of the team and secure a direct contract with the setting if all goes well.

This specialist SEN school caters to pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, sensory processing disorders, SEMH, non‑verbal and communication difficulties. The school provides a structured, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential. The Teaching Assistant team works alongside experienced teachers and therapists to deliver individualised learning and care.

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant

  • Provide classroom support as a Teaching Assistant for pupils with complex needs across all ages, most of the pupils range from 8 years to 19 years however all are working below their age range at EYFS and KS1 levels.
  • Work 1:1, 2:1 and in small groups to assist with engagement, communication, and daily learning activities.
  • Support sensory‑based interventions and assist pupils with emotional regulation strategies.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of pupils in the SEN school setting.
  • Work collaboratively as a Teaching Assistant with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure each child's needs are met.
  • Provide personal care support where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect for all pupils.

Requirements for the Teaching Assistant

  • A passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with SEN/SEMH pupils in any capacity.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to working with children with complex needs.
  • Willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary Teaching Assistant team in an SEN school.
  • Commitment to a long‑term Teaching Assistant role in a specialist setting.
