Role Details

- Pay: £100-£120 per day
- Start: ASAP bookings, subject to registration and safeguarding checks
- Setting: Mainstream primary schools, Key Stages 1 and 2
- Contract: Flexible PPA cover and short-term classroom assignments
Leading Learning and Interventions
- A Higher Level Teaching Assistant may lead planned whole-class sessions during authorised PPA or staff absence cover.
- The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions and adapt explanations to pupil needs.
- As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will monitor understanding and provide practical assessment feedback to class teachers.
- A successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant will establish positive behaviour expectations and support inclusive classroom routines.
- Prepare resources, collaborate with permanent staff and follow safeguarding requirements.
What We're Looking For in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant
- Recognised HLTA status, relevant Higher Level Teaching Assistant experience or substantial school experience leading planned lessons and appropriate class cover.
- Good knowledge of the primary curriculum, intervention delivery and progress monitoring.
- Confidence leading groups, exercising judgement and communicating with teachers.
- Reliability, adaptability and strong safeguarding awareness.
