Your Role as an English Teacher
As an English Teacher, you will plan and deliver lessons that develop pupils' reading, writing and analytical skills, adapting your teaching to different abilities and learning needs.
- Deliver engaging English lessons in line with the school's curriculum.
- Build pupils' confidence in exploring texts and expressing their ideas.
- Set clear expectations and maintain a positive classroom environment.
- Assess work, provide constructive feedback and track pupil progress.
- Adapt activities to support pupils with SEND and challenge higher-attaining learners.
- Work closely with the English department to maintain continuity in pupils' learning.
What We're Looking For in an English Teacher
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching English in a secondary school.
- Strong subject knowledge and confidence planning, teaching and assessing English.
- Effective classroom management and a consistent, approachable manner.
- Availability to start after half-term and commit to the fixed-term assignment.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
