Contract Project Engineer (Capital Projects) – Outside IR35
North West - Contract - 18 Months - Travel
We’re supporting a global hygienic manufacturing organisation with a significant capital investment programme in securing a Contract Project Engineer to support delivery across a portfolio of projects. This role will suit a hands-on, delivery-focused engineer who can operate across the full project lifecycle — from early concept through to execution — while maintaining a strong grip on both technical and commercial outcomes.
Scope of Work
You’ll be embedded within a high-performing project team, supporting multiple capital projects across a complex operational environment.
Key involvement across:
- Feasibility studies & concept development
- FEED (Front-End Engineering Design)
- Detailed design coordination & delivery
- Execution, commissioning, and handover
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate projects from initial feasibility through to completion
- Develop and challenge technical solutions, scopes, and design outputs
- Interface with internal stakeholders, contractors, and design houses
- Monitor and control project costs, schedules, and risks
- Support capacity improvement and optimisation initiatives
- Ensure delivery aligns with engineering standards, safety, and quality expectations
- Provide clear reporting and project visibility to senior stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- Degree-qualified Engineer (Mechanical, Chemical, Process or similar)
- Experience delivering projects within process-driven environments (e.g. pharma, FMCG, chemicals, manufacturing)
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle delivery (feasibility → Capacity Modelling → FEED → detailed design → Procurement → Installation)
- Confident working with engineering systems, digital tools, and data
- Good commercial awareness — understands cost drivers, budgets, and value engineering
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
