Introduction: Reef Systems is seeking a highly qualified Strength & Conditioning Specialist to support the 48th Medical Group (48 MDG) at RAF Lakenheath, UK. This position directly supports the Operational Support Team (OST) and the 48th Fighter Wing, enhancing Airmen readiness through physical performance optimization, injury prevention, and rehabilitation integration.

Mission & Background: The OST is integral to maintaining the operational readiness of the 48th Fighter Wing. The S&C Specialist serves as the human performance subject matter expert, delivering evidence‑based training programs that:

  • Improve physical readiness.
  • Reduce musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Support rehabilitation and return‑to‑duty.
  • Enhance mission performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development & Implementation: Design, administer, and evaluate physical training protocols for Airmen. Develop initiatives to mitigate physical and ergonomic stressors. Create training programs that maximize power, speed, agility, and strength. Develop individualized and group exercise regimens for Airmen with varying physical needs (e.g., obesity, hypertension, orthopedic injuries). Identify deficiencies in unit PT programs and recommend improvements.
  • Training & Instruction: Demonstrate and instruct proper exercise techniques and injury‑avoidance strategies. Provide training to PT leaders on safety and injury prevention. Conduct briefings, classes, and workshops on fitness education. Lead and coordinate the organization’s strength and conditioning course.
  • Consultation & Collaboration: Serve as the primary consultant to leadership on human performance and injury prevention. Collaborate with medical, nutrition, and mental performance staff to ensure holistic care. Coordinate training programs with HP staff to support safe return‑to‑duty. Refer personnel with new or undiagnosed conditions to medical providers.
  • Assessment, Analysis & Administration: Conduct movement screenings, biomechanical assessments, and occupational risk analyses. Observe squadron activities to identify injury‑risk stressors. Maintain documentation, workload records, and quality assurance data. Assist with equipment inventories and provide recommendations for procurement. Provide performance trend analysis and feedback to leadership.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Education & Certification: Candidates must hold one of the following: NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), NSCA Certified Performance & Sport Scientist (CPSS), ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM‑EP), ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM‑CEP), CSCCa Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC), UKSCA Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach (ASCC).
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience delivering strength & conditioning programs in tactical, military, collegiate, or professional environments. Experience conducting assessments, designing training programs, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Additional Requirements: Ability to demonstrate all prescribed exercises and lift/manipulate loads up to 55 lbs. Ability to work in austere environments and navigate uneven terrain.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day. Occasional after‑hours support during contingency activations or exercises.

Security & Compliance Requirements: Must complete DHA onboarding, training, and CAC issuance requirements. Must comply with HIPAA, DoD privacy rules, and DHA security policies. Tier 1 background investigation required for network access.

Government-Furnished Support: The Government provides: Workspace, training areas, and fitness facilities; Utilities (electricity, HVAC, water, network access); Telephones, computers, and other equipment for official use.

Performance Expectations: The contractor must meet performance standards outlined in the QASP, including: No more than 2 validated complaints per quarter, 100% compliance with referral procedures, Accurate documentation and timely reporting.
