Book Editor (Midweight/Senior)

THE ROLE

Crafting beautiful books is at the heart of everything that Reedsy does. We\’re changing the way books are published by giving authors and publishers access to talented professionals, powerful tools, and free educational content.

We are currently looking for a diverse range of experienced editors and coaches to join our community of professionals in publishing, who help authors along their path to crafting and publishing quality books.

We welcome editors with proven expertise in any of the following:

• Editorial assessment
• Developmental editing
• Copy editing
• Proofreading
• Indexing
• Query letter review
• Book coaching

As a Reedsy freelance editor, coach, or proofreader, you will work one‑on‑one with talented authors in fiction or non‑fiction genres of your interest. Besides delivering work that meets a high professional standard, you\’ll be expected to understand your clients\’ needs and guide them through the editing process with your knowledge of the industry and the market.

You will receive requests from authors, select the projects you want to work on, and determine your own rates and availability. Reedsy automatically handles contracts and payments so you can stay focused on your craft.

REQUIREMENTS

We invite you to apply if you have:

• A minimum of 3 years of professional full‑time editing experience.
• Experience working for a traditional publisher.
• Demonstrated experience on at least 5 published books that are well reviewed (and available on Amazon, Google Play or Apple Books).

Experience working for a renowned publishing company or a history of high‑quality work with a bestselling author/book will be positively valued.
