The school is all-boys from 11-16 and has a co-educational Sixth Form.

We are seeking to recruit a flexible and enthusiastic Theatre Technician to assist the Drama and Music departments in the organisation of stage lighting, sound, AV and set requirements. The role-holder will also be involved in the management and organisation of drama resources, ensuring that the Drama department is compliant with health and safety legislation. The role will also assist with whole School events which require technical expertise, including performances and events outside the Drama department, assemblies, visiting speakers, Speech Day and Open Mornings.

The role will be term time only with some additional weeks before the start and at the end of each term (to be agreed); however, an all-year-round role could be considered for the right candidate. There will also be a requirement to work some weekends and evenings in order to provide the necessary level of support for Drama and Music performances.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the organisation of stage lighting, sound, AV and set requirements for Drama and Music departments.
  • Manage and organise drama resources; ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Support whole School events requiring technical expertise (performances, assemblies, visiting speakers, Speech Day, Open Mornings).
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experience or ability to work with stage lighting, sound, AV and set requirements in a school or similar environment.
  • Ability to manage resources and coordinate technical aspects of events while ensuring health and safety compliance.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Willingness to work some weekends and evenings as required by performances.
  • Other entry requirements as specified by safeguarding and DBS checks.
Safeguarding and Selection

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants, and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media account names/handles, as part of their application. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School may ask applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless protected under DBS filtering rules) to assess suitability to work with children.
