We’re recruiting three Strategic Account Management (SAM) Research Coordinators to support the delivery of high quality intelligence, research and coordination across the region’s most strategically important organisations.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone inquisitive, highly organised, and motivated by uncovering insight, improving data quality, and contributing to strategic decision‑making across the region.

Who are we?

The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s economic development delivery organisation.

From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.

The Role

As a SAM Research Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting Strategic Account Managers and senior leaders by producing high quality research, intelligence and data to guide engagement with the region’s most strategically important organisations.

You’ll help ensure that decision‑making is informed, engagement is coordinated, and intelligence is accurate and accessible.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Offering specialist expertise in an area such as governance, fundraising, people/organisation design, innovation, business development, or export.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the West Midlands business ecosystem, including investors, universities, catapults, corporates, and government agencies.
  • Drive economic impact, ensuring interventions lead to measurable outcomes such as job creation, productivity gains, and inward investment.
  • Provide robust reporting and analysis to evidence performance, ensuring high standards of governance, transparency, and accountability.
  • Work across public, private, and academic stakeholders to remove systemic barriers to growth, influencing partners to unlock conditions for high‑growth businesses to thrive.
  • Support businesses with internationalisation and export growth, helping them develop and execute global expansion strategies through targeted ecosystem introductions.
  • Provide market and sector intelligence, identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to inform regional policy and strategic decision making.
  • Contribute to building and strengthening sector clusters and the wider scale‑up ecosystem, fostering collaboration and shared capability across priority industries.
