The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s economic development delivery organisation.
From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.

The Role
As a High Growth Support Executive, you’ll join a collaborative, forward‑thinking team where your ideas matter.
You’ll take ownership of meaningful projects, influence decision‑making, and help shape the future direction of the business.
In this role, you will
- Support high‑potential SMEs by helping deliver insights and tailored growth plans.
- Drive regional impact through business intelligence, programme development, and strong ecosystem collaboration.
- Represent the Growth Hub, ensuring businesses receive a seamless and effective support journey.
Your key responsibilities include
- Building strong relationships with SMEs and identifying solutions to their growth challenges.
- Assessing growth potential and advising on business plans and finance options.
- Identifying high‑growth SMEs and referring them to the Account Management team.
- Working with Local Authorities to deliver smooth, consistent support.
- Managing accurate CRM records and tracking progress.
- Collaborating with partners to ensure programmes remain relevant and impactful.
- Providing a high‑quality, professional service at all times.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build strong relationships with SMEs and identify solutions to their growth challenges.
- Assess SME growth potential by reviewing ideas, business plans and finance options.
- Identify high‑growth SMEs and refer them to the High Growth Account Manager.
- Work with Local Authorities to ensure smooth information flow and support.
- Support Account Managers in delivering high‑quality, impactful services.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, tracking all interactions and progress.
- Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to ensure programmes remain relevant and effective.
- Provide a consistent, professional service to ensure SMEs receive proactive, high‑quality support.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build credibility at senior level.
- Proven relationship‑building and networking experience across partners, suppliers, and businesses.
- Commercial awareness and solid understanding of business management with good judgement.
- High IT literacy, confident using MS Office to produce quality documents and reports.
Desirable
- Experience using CRM systems (ideally Zoho).
- Understanding of business investment processes and public‑sector decision‑making, especially in advanced engineering, professional services, low‑carbon, or life sciences.
