About the Role
As Head of Legal, UK Hub, you will provide commercially focused legal support to the RX UK business and international teams supported from the RX UK Hub, including teams in Germany, India, South Africa, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
You will act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership, helping manage legal and regulatory risk while supporting strategic business objectives across a broad range of commercial, compliance, technology and governance matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide pragmatic commercial legal advice; draft, review and negotiate customer, supplier, technology, sponsorship, publishing, consultancy and other commercial agreements.
- Advise on regulatory compliance including data protection, competition, anti-bribery, sanctions, corporate governance, health & safety and emerging legal requirements, working with RELX group stakeholders as appropriate.
- Manage intellectual property matters working with RELX legal stakeholders, including trade marks, copyright, brand protection, registrations and enforcement.
- Manage disputes, pre-litigation matters and external counsel to achieve commercially appropriate outcomes.
- Support AI governance, AI deployment, AI contractual matters, monitoring legal developments and delivering internal guidance.
- Support acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and strategic projects through legal advice, due diligence and implementation support.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior RX UK Hub leadership, contributing to legal and business strategy, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior counsel across the Hub.
- Deputise for the General Counsel EMEA and Technology as required.
Requirements
- Commercially focused legal judgment and risk management.
- Advanced drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements.
- Strong knowledge of IP, data protection, AI, compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver high-quality advice in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to provide legal leadership and mentor junior counsel.
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales).
- Experience advising on complex commercial contracts in private practice and/or in-house, supporting international businesses across a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters, including intellectual property, data protection, AI, technology matters and dispute management.
