We are seeking a Tenancy Enforcement and Support Officer to join the Housing and Neighbourhood Service within the Repairs Policy and Improvement Team at our client, a local authority in Sheffield. This role is crucial in managing failed entry to properties for cyclical gas safety inspections, ensuring compliance with our Landlord responsibilities, and preparing for potential legal actions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work intensively with Neighbourhood Management Teams and various support services across the city to ensure annual gas safety checks are completed.
- Investigate cases and make judgements on whether the Council needs to proceed with legal actions.
- Prepare cases for legal action, including preparing witness statements and legal letters.
- Liaise regularly with our legal services team to ensure cases are resolved successfully and enforcement actions proceed efficiently.
- Use personal vehicle for site visits, with a mileage allowance provided.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Well-developed communication skills, both face-to-face and over the telephone.
- High levels of empathy and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to work independently, plan and prioritise workload, and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Competence in producing high-quality information for legal documents.
- Ability to quickly develop positive relationships with customers and colleagues and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to escalate matters when necessary.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and excellent IT skills overall.
- A positive, can-do attitude.
