We are looking for an Estates Surveyor to manage, acquire, and dispose of a diverse portfolio of properties, ensuring the effective and efficient use of the council’s property assets. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in our neighbourhoods and fostering inclusive environments.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of commercial and operational properties.
  • Oversee the acquisition and disposal of property assets to maximise revenue and deliver efficiency savings.
  • Collaborate with service managers across the council and other public sector organisations, including health organisations, community, and third sector groups, to optimise the use of the public estate within the borough.
  • Work in partnership with Legal and Finance services to ensure all agreements, records, and financial records, including valuations for accounting purposes, are compliant with relevant standards to minimise risk to the Council.
  • Influence and shape strategic decisions regarding property and asset management to support the council’s objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Full Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  • Proven experience in asset valuation and management within a local authority environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Landlords and Tenant legislation relevant to local authority investment assets.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of engaging with third-party businesses, property professionals, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated and a team player, eager to improve operational and let estate returns and provide professional property advice.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development to meet the ongoing demands of the role and RICS requirements.
