We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our team at a bustling fresh food gastro pub in Chester. This is an excellent opportunity for a culinary professional who thrives in a dynamic kitchen environment and is eager to contribute to the creation of exceptional dishes.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
- Help in the planning and development of menus, incorporating seasonal and fresh ingredients.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring effective communication and cohesive team work.
- Manage kitchen inventory and procurement of supplies.
- Maintain health and safety standards in the kitchen.
- Handle any issues that arise in the kitchen and act as the Head Chef’s second in command.
- Ensure dishes are prepared and presented in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a similar environment, preferably in a gastro pub or restaurant focusing on fresh food.
- Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
- Creativity and passion for food and culinary arts.
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent hands-on experience.
