Job Description

We are seeking an experienced School Business Leader to provide strategic leadership for the business functions of a secondary school, supporting the development of our students. This role is integral to the  Senior Leadership Team, offering advice and guidance on strategic financial planning and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations

Day-to-day of the role:

Strategic Leadership

  • Contribute to the school's strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Align financial and operational decisions with the school's improvement plan.
  • Attend leadership meetings and report to governors.

Financial Management

  • Prepare, monitor, and forecast school budgets.
  • Ensure financial compliance and submit statutory returns.
  • Lead procurement, fundraising, and income generation initiatives such as lettings and grants.

Human Resources

  • Oversee payroll and HR processes.
  • Advise on staffing structures and recruitment.
  • Manage performance reviews and staff development.

Premises and Health & Safety

  • Supervise site maintenance and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Manage contractors and oversee building projects.
  • Ensure health and safety training and risk assessments are in place.

Compliance and Administration

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance, including data protection and safeguarding.
  • Maintain accurate records and oversee administrative systems.
  • Support policy development and review schedules.

Income Generation

  • Develop and manage income streams, such as facility rentals and partnerships.
  • Network with external organisations for funding opportunities.
