The Regional Manager will have responsibility for the operational and financial performance of our clients South East Freight Forwarding Operation providing leadership to the business. Working with the General Manager for the UK, the Regional Manager will establish, implement and monitor the long-term strategies, goals, objectives and plans across all areas of operations.
UK International freight forwarding, customs broking and logistics services sector experience is essential. This role demands a strategic approach that is innovative and focussed on continuous improvement, whilst being underpinned by a strong commercial acumen.
Responsibilities- Managing all operations for southern branches within the guidelines established by the General Manager UK; this requires frequent visits to all southern locations.
- Drive and implement commercial strategy focused on profitability, market expansion in Greater London and surrounding areas and Key Account retention.
- Developing and executing branch-level strategies that drive Net Profit improvement through rigorous financial oversight, with particular focus on proactive management of WIPS, accurate Accruals, and cost control measures.
- Developing and recommending annual business plans, operational requirements, organisational structure, staffing and budgets that support such strategies.
- Implementing strategies after approval and reporting to the General Manager UK in a timely manner on deviations of such strategies from the guidelines established.
- Provide clear leadership through structured succession planning, team performance reviews, and a proactive learning culture.
- Setting the ethical tone, including directly overseeing the administration, implementation of and the compliance with, QHSE, Compliance & Ethics capabilities.
- Managing the overall profit and loss of the southern branches.
- Planning, implementing and managing budgets.
- Providing support to management and team members undertaking operational cargo movements via air, sea and road freight.
- Managing commercial negotiations and contractual terms.
- Expert knowledge and understanding of the international freight forwarding and logistics industry.
- A high level of customer service focus and an understanding of quality service principles and application.
- A proven track record in leading teams in order to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
- Excellent communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build, maintain and influence high-value client and vendor relationships through advanced negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of general freight forwarding, break bulk, heavy lift, over dimensional and special project cargoes.
- Proven extensive experience in a senior executive role, within a geographically diverse national or international organisation.
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge in the core management disciplines of strategic planning, financial management, operations, QHSE and human resource management.
