We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Purchasing Planner specialising in Imports & Demand Planning to join a highly successful distribution company. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in supply chain management, looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Demand Planning & Inventory Control
    • Analyse historical sales trends, seasonal data, and customer demand to create accurate short- and medium-term forecasts.
    • Collaborate with sales teams to align forecasts with business objectives.
    • Utilise forecasting tools, ERP data, and market insights to drive effective replenishment strategies.
    • Monitor and maintain accurate stock levels across locations, including future UK bulk storage warehouses.
    • Plan and execute stock transfers between locations to optimise inventory distribution.
  • Procurement & Supplier Coordination
    • Place and track purchase orders with global manufacturers and suppliers.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
    • Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to delays or product quality.
  • Freight Forwarding & Import Logistics
    • Coordinate with offices abroad, freight forwarders, and shipping companies to manage imports, particularly PPE.
    • Track shipments from origin to warehouse, addressing any delays proactively.
    • Ensure all shipping documents are accurate and complete.
  • Process Improvement & Reporting
    • Develop and monitor key supply chain KPIs such as lead times, stock turnover, and cost efficiency.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance purchasing and logistics operations.
    • Maintain accurate records and provide insightful reports to senior management on demand trends and supply chain efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, demand planning, or supply chain roles.
  • Experience in the wholesale distribution industry is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with demand planning tools and ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Business Central.
  • Knowledge of import processes, freight forwarding, and customs clearance.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
