Personal Advisor – Future Directions Leaving Care Team (Barnsley)

?? Base: Care Leavers Hub, near Westgate?? Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)?? Contract: 12 weeks (potential to extend)?? Interview Format: Microsoft Teams

Role Overview

Join a supportive and stable team dedicated to helping care-experienced young people (ages 16–25) transition into adulthood. You’ll provide guidance across key life areas including housing, education, employment, health, and relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with care leavers and post-care individuals
  • Support and update Pathway Plans
  • Advocate across multi-agency settings (housing, education, health)
  • Promote access to training, employment, and education
  • Provide guidance on tenancy, homelessness, and family reunification
  • Address challenges around substance misuse, mental health, and disabilities
  • Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality reports

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience with care leavers / looked-after children
  • Comfortable working with 18–25 year olds (primary focus)
  • Strong report writing, time management, and IT skills
  • Able to work in complex, multi-agency environments
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
  • Willingness to learn and seek support when needed
