We are seeking a Medical Secretary / Administrator to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is based on the outskirts of Norwich city centre.

  • Hourly Rate: £13
  • Location: Norwich, NR1
  • Job Type: Temporary ongoing – 3 months could be longer
  • Hours: 37 hours over 4/5 days

Overview

The position requires someone with NHS experience ideally from a GP practice and familiarity with NHS processes, particularly in handling referrals.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and processing patient referrals, including typing up referral notes to hospitals.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely communication between patients, healthcare providers, and external agencies.
  • Maintaining and updating patient records and clinician notes using NHS systems, preferably SystmOne.
  • Providing administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the practice.
  • Handling confidential information with discretion and in compliance with NHS guidelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Secretary or similar administrative role within a GP practice.
  • Familiarity with NHS operational procedures and referral processes.
  • Experience with NHS software, ideally System One; training can be provided for candidates with general NHS experience.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple days and adapt to varying workloads.
