Our Client, Trafford Council, is seeking an Adult's Social Worker to join their EDT AMHP Team. This is a Hybrid Working Role!

Responsibilities of this role:

  • The core role involves assessing individuals in crisis to determine if detention under the MHA is necessary (sections 135 or 136), or if community-based alternatives are appropriate.
  • Investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, or harm to children and adults, and taking immediate protective actions.
  • Providing urgent social care interventions for cases such as mental health breakdowns, child welfare concerns, or elderly individuals in distress.
  • Acting as the "applicant" in MHA assessments, coordinating with doctors and police to ensure lawful and respectful treatment, often challenging the medical model with a social perspective.
  • Operating in the evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, making independent decisions when council offices are closed.
  • Arranging emergency foster care for children or residential care for vulnerable adults when no other support is available.
  • Responding to calls from police regarding detention and providing or arranging an "Appropriate Adult" for individuals in police custody.

Requirements of this role:

  • Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
  • Must have a Social Work qualification (Diploma in social work, social work degree or equivalent).
  • Must have minimum of 3 years experience working as a Qualified social worker.
