Our client is a Boutique Immigration Law Firm with 35 years of experience in meeting the migration needs of international business people and UK-based companies. They are recruiting for a Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of their Westend-based office. Previous Legal Practice Management experience is essential, as well as knowledge of basic HR procedures, as you will be the first point of contact for all absence reporting. This role is 100% office-based, Monday to Friday, 09.00 - 18.00.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all administrative and support functions across the firm
- Provide operational support to IT, Finance, and Compliance teams, including oversight of the data breaches register
- Monitor chargeable hours and utilisation rates
- Support Junior Partners with Billing
- Collaborate with Partners and stakeholders to manage non-billable activities
- Manage the firm’s business and property insurance arrangements
- Approve and monitor weekly office supply orders
- Maintain and regularly update the Office Manual and internal policies
- Plan, coordinate, and track all internal and external training initiatives
- Handle all aspects of employee relations
- Book staff appraisals for junior staff on behalf of the Partners
- Manage absence tracking and reporting
- Provide support with performance management processes
- Ensure all employees maintain valid right-to-work documentation
- Coordinate internship and work experience programmes
- Lead and support firm-wide projects as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Practice Manager, or People or Operations Manager in a Law firm
- Strong knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct and Accounts Rules
- Demonstrates a growth mindset and is committed to lifelong learning to build knowledge and expertise
- Excellent Partner management skills, with the ability to quickly build relationships
- Strong focus on day-to-day resource management and delivering continuous positive impact on business performance
- Ability to manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Commercially minded with strong risk management and business acumen
- Strong IT skills
- Knowledge of Quill would be advantageous but isn’t essential
- Knowledge of Staffology is advantageous but not essential
