My client who are Central London based are seeking an experienced Billing Clerk to join their Revenue Control Team. This role involves accurate and efficient billing operations, meeting the operational needs of Barristers, and delivering exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will collaborate with Barristers to enhance working practices and improve the use of Case Management software for prompt billing and enhanced debt recovery.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Undertake billing in all civil areas, focusing on non-crime and non-family billing.
  • Ensure efficient and accurate billing to maximise claim levels and turnaround times.
  • Resolve billing queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Appeal assessments and incorrect decisions.
  • Advise Barristers on effective and efficient billing methods.
  • Identify potential problem areas and continuous improvement opportunities in the billing process.
  • Participate in departmental meetings to contribute new initiatives.
  • Support the Credit Controllers on an ad hoc basis.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Civil Legal Aid.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the legal industry.
  • Confidence in making telephone calls for fee collection.
  • Proficient in using Case Management systems.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Enthusiasm for developing new skills and a proactive approach to work.
  • Professional attitude with strong client relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team and maintain a positive attitude in a busy environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience with SIAC and High-Cost cases.

Please note this role is 37.5 hours a week and will be hybrid (3 days in the office) after probation is passed.
