Our client is seeking a dedicated Lawyer to provide essential legal advice and support to their new Homelessness Emergency Casework Team. This role is crucial for managing legal challenges related to homelessness applications and ensuring that all statutory responsibilities are fulfilled.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the statutory responsibilities for local authorities in relation to homeless duties.
  • Handle legal challenges from homeless applicants, advocates, and representatives effectively.
  • Provide support and advice to Team Leaders and Duty Managers in cases where legal challenges are escalated.
  • Prepare both electronic and hard copy correspondence to respond to legal challenges.
  • Handle telephone enquiries from applicants, advocates, and legal representatives as appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Preferably 2-3 years of experience working on homeless applications.
  • Familiarity with the legal framework governing local authorities' responsibilities towards homeless individuals.
  • Ability to provide robust legal advice and support in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of handling enquiries and drafting detailed correspondence.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively within a team.
