Reed Education is seeking experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work within primary schools across Wakefield. There is a high demand for HLTAs to support schools with PPA cover across KS1 and KS2, as well as working with small groups of pupils. Occasionally, there may also be a request to teach the whole class.
The ideal HLTA must be a reliable, hardworking, fun, enthusiastic, and caring individual who can build good working relationships with colleagues, pupils, and parents. This role involves working with teachers to support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff and, for short periods, being responsible for the whole class in the absence of the teacher.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to deliver high-quality support to children and young people, accelerate the progress of groups of children and young people, and develop high-quality resources.
Qualifications and experience:
- GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 or equivalent
- Evidence of additional qualifications suitable for the TA role (e.g., NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant)
- HLTA qualification or equivalent
- Experience of working and supporting primary age children
- Experience of carrying out intervention programmes
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and an active listener
- Highly motivated and the ability to motivate children
- Ability to assist children on an individual basis, in small groups, and in whole class work
- Good ICT skills
