Estimator
Location: Bradford
Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our client in Bradford. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, this role is crucial for producing accurate and detailed estimates, ensuring the seamless delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Take briefs from the Estimating Manager and/or client
- Review and understand job-specific tender requirements and contractual terms
- Prepare tender packages for suppliers, subcontractors, and incumbent factories
- Liaise with the supply base throughout the tender process to answer queries and ensure timely receipt of quotations
- Prepare multiple, accurate, and detailed estimates using Microsoft Excel that incorporate required materials and necessary workshop labour for operations such as machining, joinery, assembly, and/or welding
- Submit tender documents to the Estimating Manager in a timely manner
- Liaise with clients post-tender, answering queries and making amendments.
- Hand over to the project delivery team and work with various departments to ensure delivery of projects on time and on budget.
- Attend prestart meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience estimating within a similar role
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Experience within shopfitting, manufactured metal, and joinery products is essential
- Experience within fit-out and/or refurbishment estimating is desirable
- Excellent administrative and planning skills
- Mathematically proficient and highly organised
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Diligent with excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Fully computer literate with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Good collaborator and capable of working towards multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Full Driving license.
Education/Qualifications/Certifications:
- GCSE C grade or above in English & Mathematics is essential
- A Level in any subject is preferable but not essential
- Higher education qualification such as HNC/HND and/or Degree level qualification in a construction-based course
