Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a Director of Student Services to lead the strategic management and enhancement of student services at our college. This senior role is pivotal in supporting the college's strategic plan, focusing on student satisfaction, retention, outcomes, and employability. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Student Support and Administration, Student Engagement, and Student Experience, reporting directly to the Deputy Managing Director and contributing to the Senior Management Team.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic and operational plans to integrate college strategies into the management and performance of Student Services.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Ensure the Student Services team is structured and resourced to align with the college's strategic direction.
  • Establish clear operational plans, budgets, management reporting processes, and procedures.
  • Set and achieve individual and team goals, creating development opportunities aligned with appraisal objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on student support matters through committee participation, policy development, and training provision.
  • Monitor and evaluate student support mechanisms, using best practices to inform strategic planning for service improvement.
  • Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Lead the development and review of policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance and effective student support.
  • Manage compliance with legislative requirements, health and safety regulations, and best practices across the service area.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK Higher Education sector.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop service strategies and manage large-scale projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and reporting.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills, and experience with SharePoint or similar systems.
