Job Description

Custody Healthcare Practitioner

We are seeking an exceptional, dynamic & innovative Custody Healthcare Practitioner (Registered Nurse or Paramedic) with custody experience (Police or HMP),  to contribute to an effective custody suite team throughout London service to meet the needs of our Client.

Job Purpose:

The Custody Healthcare Practitioner will be skilled in the provision of care for a range of patients needing urgent, emergency care and long term condition management, and have an aptitude for managing mental health conditions.

You will already have custody experience and be provided with an accelerated induction and supported shifts to orientate to the service provided across London.

The Custody Healthcare Practitioner key duties and responsibilities will be:

  • ensuring the continuing health, safety and welfare of detainees within police custody
  • assessing and formulating tailored care plans for vulnerable people with multiple medical conditions, some of which may limit their ability to be detained and interviewed
  • providing clinical guidance for custody staff responsible for the observation of detainees
  • ensuring accurate clinical and police records
  • responding to and leading clinical emergencies
  • collecting forensic samples to assist police in their investigations

To work as a Custody Healthcare Practitioner in this unique role you will need:

  • You must be a first level Registered Adult Nurse, Mental Health Nurse or Paramedic holding a Valid HCPC Pin or NMC Pin
  • Eligibility to Work in the UK
  • You Must Have Custody Healthcare Experience
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • You MUST be competent in venepuncture on your first day of appointment
  • You will have a competency level equivalent to NHS Band 6 within the health service.
