Job Description

Commercial Gas & Plumbing Engineer

  • Annual Salary: Up to £50,000
  • Location: Hampshire
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Gas & Plumbing Engineer to support our Clients ongoing growth. This role involves a variety of planned and reactive tasks in plumbing, heating, in commercial settings, with a focus on schools and public buildings. The position requires travel across multiple sites in Hampshire, with some early starts and participation in a shared call-out rota.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Travel between various sites, primarily schools and commercial premises, to carry out a wide range of tasks including planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works.
  • Perform reactive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs in plumbing and gas systems.
  • Install pipework, water heaters, TMVs, and general plumbing systems.
  • Deliver PPM tasks with full documentation, such as servicing, valve checks, and safety inspections.
  • Commission and test work on hot water and heating systems.
  • Attend breakdowns and participate in a shared 24/7 call-out rota with door-to-door pay on weekends.
  • Maintain accurate records via mobile devices/tablet software.
  • Uphold high standards of safety and professionalism, especially in school environments.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams to support wider compliance and remedial works.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in a Mechanical/Plumbing discipline.
  • Commercial/Domestic Gas Certifications: CCN1, CENWAT, CODNCCO1, CDGA1, CIGA1.
  • Knowledge of Air Source, AC, or Electrical systems is beneficial.
  • Experience with unvented hot water systems (G3).
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in client interactions.
  • Familiarity with school or catering environments is beneficial.
  • Electrical safety awareness or competency.
