Communication Support Worker
Greater Manchester

Job Purpose
Reed Further Education are recruiting Communication Support Worker across Greater Manchester.
As a Communication Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping students fully engage with both their studies and college life.
Using your skills in British Sign Language (BSL), note-taking, lip-speaking, and adapting learning materials, you’ll provide high-quality communication support tailored to individual needs.
Day to Day of the role
•Deliver in-class and out-of-class communication support for D/deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
•Adapt learning materials and classroom environments to ensure full accessibility.
•Encourage and support students in building independence and developing effective communication skills.
•Manage and maintain specialist equipment to support learning.
•Work collaboratively with tutors and the Additional Learning Support (ALS) team to remove barriers to learning.
•Provide support during exams, academic reviews, and safeguarding meetings.
•Assist with enrolment and induction activities to ensure a smooth transition into college life.
Required Skills & Qualifications
•British Sign Language Level 3 or above
•Experience supporting individuals with hearing impairment
•A strong understanding and commitment to safeguarding practices.
•Minimum of GCSE A-C/Level 2 in English and Maths.
•An Enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one.
