Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the learning, social, and emotional needs of students with ASD, working closely with the class teacher and speech therapists.
- Engage and motivate pupils with autism, helping them achieve their full potential through tailored speech and language interventions.
- Build trust and confidence among pupils and staff.
- Be a flexible, reflective, and self-evaluating practitioner focused on improving the quality of learning.
- Maintain effective communication with children, young people, and other staff members, adapting to diverse backgrounds.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with special educational needs (SEN) in a similar or transferable role, specifically in speech and language therapy.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to inspire, challenge, and stimulate both pupils and staff.
- Must have a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
