About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced professional to join our dedicated team and help deliver outstanding provision for pupils with hearing impairments. You will work alongside an existing specialist teacher and a team of Deaf Instructors and Communicator Support Workers to support 14 hearing‑impaired children within a mainstream primary setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by promoting inclusion, independence, and high achievement for pupils with hearing impairment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and support hearing‑impaired pupils within the resource provision and mainstream classes.
- Collaborate with mainstream colleagues to ensure effective inclusion and high‑quality learning experiences.
- Lead on writing EHCPs and planning tailored learning for pupils.
- Manage and support a team of Communicators and foster strong relationships with parents.
- Work confidently with multi‑agency teams, including speech and language specialists.
- Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in meeting individual needs and adopting alternative strategies.
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status plus a mandatory qualification in hearing impairment (including BSL Level 2 or equivalent), or equivalent specialist qualification.
- Recent experience teaching children with hearing impairment in a primary setting.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to support staff in planning inclusive learning.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
- Commitment to valuing children and helping them reach their full potential.
