It’s an exciting time to join our Pricing, Reserving and Risk Management teams as an Actuarial Modelling Graduate. You’ll be provided with excellent career development opportunities, with placements in at least two of our Retail Pricing, Commercial Pricing, Health, Reserving or Risk Management teams, over a three-year period.
You’ll quickly become part of the team, providing technical support using a variety of tools and methods in analytics, modelling, pricing, reserving, capital modelling and risk management. Your work will enhance our understanding of insurance and financial risk and costs. You’ll leverage traditional approaches on established systems and innovative practices on new infrastructure, drawing on emerging data science practices to provide valuable insight.
With a personalised and tailored development plan driven by you, you’ll receive constant support and guidance from your line managers and mentors, to learn, grow and excel in the role. At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You’ll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern: Full time, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of your learning pathway, we’re unable to fulfil part time working.
What you’ll be doing:
- Create, maintain, validate and reconcile exposure and claims data to be ready for analysis/modelling.
- Support in the creation, maintenance, deployment and testing of predictive models. Build insight using this data to identify trends and patterns to inform actions supporting line of business strategy.
- Assist in ensuring processes are efficient and enhanced to meet business needs and customer expectations.
- Assist in producing and developing appropriate and accurate monitoring for stakeholders to support decision-making.
- Use a developing skill set to suggest and provide routine analysis that supports the strategy in respect of relevant Business Lines. We are always looking for innovative ways to improve what we do.

What you’ll bring:
- Excellent numerical mathematical skills. 2.1 degree or higher in a mathematics, statistics or other numerate degree such as physics and quantitative risk/finance.
- A grade at A-level Mathematics or equivalent.
- Ability to demonstrate high levels of problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Effective communication skills to help establish a network within AXA.
- Continuous appetite to learn, develop skills and complete a relevant professional qualification.
- Ability to plan and prioritise own work with a high level of attention to detail.
- Embracing teamwork by supporting and respecting others.
- Knowledge and experience of modelling techniques and computer languages such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, Excel VBA or other analytical language/tools would be desirable.
- Can work under pressure and to strict deadlines whilst maintaining reliability and accuracy.
