Reed Practice are proud to be recruiting for a firm of chartered accountants who have been in operation for 100+ years. They are seeking to add an Accounts Manager to their esteemed team in their office in Oxford. The candidate will be responsible for the effective management of a portfolio of accounting and business clients together with conducting ad hoc special assignments as requested by the partners.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • To manage the accounting requirements of a varied client portfolio.
  • To meet own individual performance level criteria/objectives such as chargeable %, recoverability etc and also review/manage individual performance level criteria/objectives of staff under your supervision.
  • To manage the completion of accounts, business tax computations, corporation tax computations and draft corporate tax returns to a satisfactory standard for review/agreement by the partner(s) dealing with the clients.
  • To take a lead role in the planning and monitoring of the workflow, and the effective financial management, of accounts work within the office.
  • To set time and fee budgets for all work within the portfolio and for the activities of reporting staff including monitoring/checking time spent against budget.
  • To have input to fee quotes and to prepare bills/invoices for partner approval as required.
  • To build rapport and maintain regular contact with clients by telephone, email, letter and in person. To check the content of letters with the appropriate partner before despatch.
  • To manage and motivate staff overseeing their schedule of work and ensuring that the work produced is to schedule and to the required standard.
  • To provide regular feedback to reporting staff on performance matters, take responsibility for their annual appraisals and the content and delivery of their training plan.
  • To have input, as requested by the partners, to decisions on salary reviews.

To be considered for this role, candidates must be:

  • Experienced with a sound general practice background covering accountancy.
  • ACA/ACCA qualified, however, QBE at manager level can be considered as well.
