Duties of an Electrical Design Engineer:
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers in the controls department to guide projects through hardware design phases.
- Create schematic drawings for control cabinets and field installations using EPLAN Pro Panel (EPLAN Electric P8 with 3D panel layouts).
- Use AutoCAD LT to create device layouts for installations.
- Work to tight and demanding deadlines, ensuring adherence to project deliverables.
- Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and manage project requirements, including potential penalties for delays
- Be prepared to work overtime to meet business demands and project deadlines.
Skills and experience required of an Electrical Design Engineer:
- Proficient in Allen Bradley or Siemens control systems, with extensive knowledge of automation architectures, network layers, PROFINET, or EtherNET/IP networks for distributed systems.
- Skilled in inverters and control wiring (preferably SEW), AS-i systems, and safety system architectures, including SISTEMA-based designs.
- Experienced in designing control systems within budget constraints and managing projects valued from £80k to £30M+.
- Expertise in LV systems, including volt drop and current limit calculations, and structured PLC system design.
- Background in industrial sectors such as logistics, warehousing, distribution, or fulfillment, with a strong understanding of warehouse design and material handling equipment.
- Electrical-biased apprenticeship with at least five years of design experience on 20+ projects valued at £500k+ (HND in Electrical Engineering or above) or three years with similar proven performance.
