Are you a strategic thinker with expertise in business design and transformation? A large public sector organisation is seeking a highly skilled Head of Business Design on an interim basis to manage and deliver high-quality business design functions within a complex and fast-paced environment. This 12 month maternity cover is an opportunity to lead key design activities, engage with senior stakeholders, and shape cost-effective and operationally efficient business solutions. The role will be based in central London and will offer hybrid working with 3 days on site attendance per week. It will be offered for a rate of £700 - £760 per day umbrella. (inside IR35)
About the Role
As the Head of Business Design, you will oversee the Organisational Design Authority, ensuring business designs receive robust challenge and governance. You will work collaboratively across the organisation, aligning teams, methodologies, and frameworks with best practice standards.
- Leadership & Governance: Manage a team of business design specialists, ensuring quality execution of designs and adherence to industry-leading standards.
- Strategic Oversight: Develop operating models, business case frameworks, and process mapping to ensure effective service delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Lead engagement with senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making and guiding complex transformation initiatives.
- Design Assurance: Run the Design Authority, overseeing the implementation of approved business designs.
- Training & Development: Design and deliver comprehensive training in business design methodologies.
- Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure alignment of business designs with regulatory requirements and governance frameworks.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify cross-programme design dependencies and foster innovation in business design approaches.
Experience & Skills Required
- Expertise in Business Design: Proven experience leading formal Design Authorities in complex change programmes.
- Stakeholder Influence: Strong negotiation skills, able to challenge senior leaders across a large organisation.
- Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to assess business impact, resolve risks, and contribute to executive-level decision-making.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating model design, business case development, organisation design, and process mapping.
