Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as a Senior Commercial Manager. This role offers you the chance to make a significant impact by providing full-cycle commercial support for digital and outsourced services, ensuring compliant sourcing, effective contract management, and delivering value for money across key programmes. You’ll lead on sourcing strategies, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage stakeholder relationships to enable successful delivery of services that improve financial wellbeing for people across the UK.
The Senior Commercial Manager will report directly to the Commercial Lead and will manage one Commercial Manager within a sub-team of six permanent staff embedded in programme teams. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Team Management – Manage day-to-day activity and monitor performance against objectives, keep the Commercial Lead/Director fully informed and escalate issues promptly.
- Sourcing – Identify suitable frameworks and approaches for sourcing digital, cloud-based, and professional services requirements; recommend best routes to market and run compliant award procedures at pace; complete governance processes effectively.
- Commercial Contract Management – Manage contractual changes, ensuring adherence to processes and accurate cost models; conduct financial negotiations for contract changes, maintaining commercial advantage; review and amend contract documents, including service level agreements and statements of work; engage and manage stakeholders throughout the process.
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- MCIPS or equivalent (e.g., IACCM/WCC) or relevant experience/accreditation.
- Solid public sector commercial experience, including use of frameworks.
- Proven ability to work effectively with service delivery teams and project managers.
- Strong experience in senior-level commercial management (ideally 5–10 years).
- Ability to run or supervise compliant sourcing activity at pace without procurement risk.

At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
