REED Engineering & Engineering are working with a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company within the metals industry The role Working as part of the Quality and Technical team reporting to the QHS Manager, this role covers all aspects of the technical review process including the full technical review of all sales orders, all outsourced materials and all materials being treated and tested. You will also provide technical support and guidance for all departments within the business unit. Key Duties and Responsibilities Technical review of all sales orders and PRDs including all customer specifications, customer quality plans, quality documents and quality instructions. Pre-purchase technical reviews and / or advice to Key Account Managers. Review and approval of MTC\’s from suppliers against internal purchase specifications. All mill certificate amendments found at the technical review stage will be processed by liaising with the relevant steel mill. Entering of cast analysis and test data for incoming raw material onto the Steel Manager system. Providing technical support to the sales team during enquiry and contract review. Arranging third party or customer witness visits. Arranging a Lloyds control number and detailing this on the route requisitions. Obtain up to date lead times from all test houses used for any required tests. Obtain and provide an up-to-date pricing matrix for testing applications from all test houses used. Creation of TR Sheets for external material testing. Customer specification review and system inputting. This will also include managing, maintaining, and controlling of all customer specification documents. Managing, maintaining, and updating of all purchasing specifications. Circulation of any revised purchase specifications to all appropriate suppliers and internal staff. Controlling, maintaining, and managing of controlled industry specifications and standards. This will mean liaising and communicating with SAI Global to acquire new and updated specifications to enable the updating of a register in a specification file on the company server. Creation and implementation of manufacturing process specifications, quality plans and control plans. Input exact external testing costs on estimator forms prior to contract review. Involvement in pre-production meetings for key customers. Expedite work in progress at test houses and communicate completion dates to the relevant Key Account Manager and Production Planning Manager. After receipt of the test report, add the test results onto the steel manager system. Also add the electronic test certificates to the electronic file on the sales line item. Then move on the testing stage of the process on the sales route to the finished status. On failure of tests, an alternative testing plan must be created and presented to the Key Account Manager as a proposed resolution. This may involve changing batches and therefore, completing a batch change form. Providing technical justification, where necessary, for customer concession requests. Working with the Quality Manager on reporting corrective actions for customer concerns. Supporting with completing customer quality questionnaires and assessments, if required. Supporting the Quality System management through quality audits, as required by the Quality Manager
