Teaching assistants support teachers and help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom. Your role will be to support pupils with additional needs, whilst also working in small groups with other children in School., The school we are recruiting for require a Teaching Assistant to support two children across Reception and Year 1, who need additional support. You will need to quickly develop a relationship with the pupils and staff, to ensure you can make an impact with the children and the rest of the class. The students in question spend some time each week in the resourced provision at School. This usually happens when the classroom becomes too intense for them.

The role will include but is not limited:

  • Supporting the children so they can access the curriculum

  • Listening to children read, reading to them, or telling them stories

  • Being alert to the triggers of the children to help prevent the child needing to leave the class

  • Helping teachers to plan learning activities and complete records using differentiation

  • Supporting teachers in managing class behaviour

  • Supervising group activities

  • Be patient and willing to build relationship with children

  • Have an empathetic nature

  • Be able to use initiative

  • Have over 2 years of experience in Primary Schools

  • Have experience working with children who have challenging behaviour

  • A good understanding of Autism and other needs

  • An ability to build good working relationships with both pupils and adults
