Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

  • Location: Cambridgeshire
  • Job Type: Full-time (Mon to Thurs – 7.30am to 4.15pm, Fri – 7.30am to 3pm)
  • Salary: Β£35,000 to Β£43,000 gross per annum

Our client seeks a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to lead both proactive and reactive maintenance. This role is crucial in reducing the incidence of breakdowns and enhancing the efficiency of production facilities. The successful candidate will ensure that machinery and equipment operate smoothly and reliably and will take ownership of all electrical and mechanical work, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow safe work practices.
  • Equipment Inspection and Troubleshooting: Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment can be operated safely and efficiently.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform restoration and routine maintenance to prevent damage and prolong the life expectancy of assets.
  • Emergency Repairs: Respond to emergency calls for equipment breakdowns, prioritizing urgent repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement a rigorous machine maintenance program that meets audit and legal compliance regulations.
  • Electrical & Mechanical Work: Provide technical support on M&E compliance, statutory legislation, standards validation, project snagging, and equipment testing.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance work and generate reports for management.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices. Attend training sessions and workshops as needed.
  • Facilities Project Management: Lead facilities projects such as refits, upgrades, and equipment installations from planning to completion.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of PUWER regulations.
  • Experience interacting with suppliers, overseeing a team, and managing budgets.
  • Strong understanding of engineering procedures and functions.
  • Excellent team-working skills to liaise and work cooperatively with individuals at all levels.
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to persuade others.
  • Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and people-management skills.
